In this article, you'll find out how to create a gift voucher for direct sale in your salon, and how to offer gift vouchers online.
🎁 Create a gift voucher for direct sale in your salon
How it works
To sell a gift voucher in your salon, simply add it to the ticket at checkout:
At checkout, click the "Gift vouchers" tab at the top left of the POS system (see image below), then click "Sell gift voucher":
Enter the amount of the gift voucher and click "Add" (you can also click one of the preset amounts);
Enter a name for the gift voucher or let the name be generated automatically;
The gift voucher is now added to your ticket;
If that is all the client wants, you can continue with the checkout until the end;
Only once the checkout is complete will the system give you a 9-character code (just below the gift voucher line on the receipt).
This code must be given to the client: either in writing (by noting it on a paper gift voucher that you hand to the client) or by email, simply by clicking the code!
The client (or the person who received the gift voucher) must have the code with them when they want to redeem it.
How it works: redeeming a gift voucher
The client comes to pay and would like to use a gift voucher.
To redeem a gift voucher, simply follow these steps:
At checkout, click the "Gift vouchers" tab on the left;
Then click "Redeem gift voucher";
The advantage of Salonkee codes is that the system keeps track for you! For example, if the client has a gift voucher worth €85 and wants to use it on a receipt of €46, the system saves the difference on the same code, which the client simply brings back next time.
Once the gift voucher has been applied to the receipt, complete the checkout as you usually do.
If the client uses a gift voucher and therefore owes you nothing more, you still need to go to the last step and click "Cash" or "Card" to complete the checkout. The payment method selected makes no difference.
If the gift voucher still has a balance (the client has not used all of it), you can send them the code again if needed.
🛒 Offer gift vouchers online

The "Online gift vouchers" feature is available with the Payments module. To activate it, contact us via the chat in Salonkee Pro or write to us at support@salonkee.com.
How it works:
It's very simple!
In Salonkee Pro, click "My Salon", then "Online payments" in the menu on the left.
Activate gift vouchers by clicking the button on the right. Gift vouchers are activated when the button turns green.
Gift vouchers are now available on your Salonkee page!
Your clients can choose from different gift voucher designs.
They can also add a personal message and select the amount they want.
They can then either print the gift voucher or send it by email to the recipient.

When a client wants to redeem their gift voucher, you have two options at checkout:
Enter the voucher code in the dedicated tab in the POS system
Scan the barcode on the voucher

You can find all gift vouchers and their remaining values in "Dashboard" under "Gift vouchers";
From an accounting point of view, selling a gift voucher is income (cash coming in) but not actual revenue (in theory, you owe a service or product to the client, who has simply paid in advance with a gift voucher). This is why, in the "Monthly report" (to send to your accountant), gift voucher sales appear under income but not under revenue. The voucher only officially counts as revenue once it is actually redeemed.
