How to split tips between employees

Learn how to easily assign tips to employees and get an overview of your salon's tipping system.

In this article we discuss everything about tipping! Here's a quick overview:

Add a tip at checkout

  • Select the customer's reservation in the calendar.

  • Go to 'Checkout' and click on 'Pay now'.

  • (1) To apply the tip, please first adjust the total amount of the appointment by adding the tip, then the system will calculate the tip automatically, (2) then select the payment method (step 2 in the image), (3) and then assign the tip.

Enable tip splitting

  • Log in to Salonkee Pro.

  • Navigate to 'My salon'. Under Settings > General, find the 'Tip distribution' section.

  • Select 'Activate tip distribution'.

Split tip options

When a customer leaves a tip, there are several ways to assign it:

  • Automatic - even distribution: the tip is distributed evenly among all assisting employees.

  • Manual - Required at checkout: Employees get to choose how the tip is distributed.

  • Manual - Optional at checkout: the tip will go to an unallocated pot unless manually allocated.

❗Note: Availability of these options may vary by country due to legal considerations.

Withdraw tip from cash register

Enable this option to allow employees to withdraw tips directly. These transactions are recorded in the system for transparency.

Automatic - even distribution

If the tip settings are set to 'Automatic - Split Evenly', the tip will be automatically distributed among the employees.

Manual - required at checkout

If the tip settings are set to 'Manual - required at checkout', you must manually assign tips to employees.

Here's a quick guide:

  • After a tip amount has been assigned at checkout, click "Change Tip Distribution."

  • Then manually assign the tips to each employee and click 'Confirm'.

Manual - optional at checkout

If your settings are set to 'Manual - optional at checkout', you have two options:

1. Manually distribute tip between employees - same process as 'Manual - required at checkout'

2. Allow the tips to go into an unallocated pot. How do I do this? Once a tip has been added at checkout, immediately click "Receive" without assigning it to an employee.

Note: You can view the amount of all unassigned tips in the tip overview.

Split Tips Report

  • To access a detailed report of all tips received:

  • Go to 'Statistics' in Salonkee Pro.

  • Click on 'Employees' in the sidebar and then choose 'Tip overview'.

  • Here you will find a comprehensive overview of all tips, both allocated and unallocated, received by the employees of your salon.
